Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has advised political candidates affected by the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Electoral Act 2026 as amended to reconsider their participation in the race.
Sani, in a post on X, warned the affected candidates against spending further time and resources on their political ambitions, arguing that they were unlikely to succeed.
“If you are one of those candidates affected by the September Supreme Court ruling, you shouldn’t waste your time and resources,” Sani said.
He said supporters of the affected candidates might continue to encourage them to remain in the race, but argued that such candidates were “heading to nowhere”.
Sani also drew on his experience as a frontline political participant, saying he had experienced both electoral victories and defeats.
“We have the experience of losing and winning elections, not as analysts or commentators but as active, frontline participants; so we know both sides very well,” he said.
