The Enugu Education Summit 2026 is underway, bringing together teachers from public and private schools, education stakeholders and international development partners to discuss ways of improving learning outcomes across the state.
Representatives of UNESCO and UNICEF are also participating in the summit, providing strategic and technical support, as stakeholders develop implementation guidelines aimed at delivering quality and quantitative learning across all tiers of the education sector.
The summit is examining key issues affecting teaching as a profession, including challenges, opportunities and prospects for educators in Nigeria.
Speakers at the event are also expected to propose a professional framework to guide teachers and other actors across the education sector.
A major objective of the summit is to provide a platform for stakeholders to validate the Enugu State Government’s education strategy, particularly its approach to funding, infrastructure development and implementation models that could serve as a framework for sub-national governments.
The summit is expected to produce practical recommendations and implementation strategies to strengthen education delivery and improve outcomes for learners across Enugu State.
