A 20-year-old man in Jigawa State, Lawisi Safiyanu, is in police custody for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old customer to death following a dispute over a ₦500 balance from the purchase of a mobile phone.

The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday October 1st at Chamo village in Dutse Local Government Area.

Police say the victim, identified as Muhammad Abba, bought a mobile phone from the suspect for ₦1,500 but paid only ₦1,000, leaving an outstanding balance of ₦500.

The disagreement over the unpaid balance reportedly escalated, with Safiyanu allegedly using a knife to stab Abba.

Abba was rushed to Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse for treatment, but he died while receiving medical attention.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was arrested shortly after.

Police also recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack as an exhibit.

The command says investigation has been completed and the suspect has been charged to court to face the law.

What began as a dispute over just ₦500 has now ended in the loss of a life, leaving a family to mourn and another young man facing a serious criminal charge.
