The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the gruesome murder and robbery of a family at Oloba Village, Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.
The suspects, identified as Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village, allegedly invaded the residence of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children on September 22, 2026.
According to the police, the suspects were armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club.
They allegedly robbed the family of 200-thousand naira cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with chainsaw and a spraying machine.
During the attack, Hammed Akinbami allegedly shot the husband, while Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward inflicted injuries on the wife by hitting her on the head.

The police said the suspects subsequently tied two of the children by their hands and legs and threw them into a nearby river, while the remaining members of the family were killed and their bodies dumped in the same river.
The arrest followed credible intelligence received by the Command on October 2, leading detectives to commence investigations into the incident.
The three suspects were later arrested and, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.
The police recovered the familyβs Boxer motorcycle, one locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and the club allegedly used during the attack.
The remains of the wife have since been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the other victims.
The suspects and case file will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has directed a thorough investigation into the case and vowed that all persons found culpable will be brought to justice.
