Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eti-Osa Constituency I, Lagos State, have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the controversy surrounding the party’s ticket for the constituency.
The stakeholders are calling for the restoration of Noheem Adams as the APC candidate, claiming he won the party’s primary election held on May 20, 2026.
According to the group, Adams polled 7,638 votes, while his challenger, Saheed Bankole, scored 1,225 votes at the primary.
The stakeholders said the result, as declared at the primary, established Adams as the winner and reflected the choice of APC members in the constituency.
They are therefore urging Tinubu, as President and a leader of the APC, to intervene and help resolve the dispute in favour of what they described as the mandate given to Adams.
The appeal comes amid disagreement over the party’s official candidate for Eti-Osa Constituency I. While Adams’ supporters maintain that he won the May 20 primary, the APC Lagos State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, has said the party’s published candidate list remains the official outcome.
Ojelabi reportedly said the state chapter only published the results submitted by the committee constituted by the party’s national leadership.
The APC’s published list names Saheed Bankole as the party’s candidate for the constituency, despite the figures cited by Adams’ supporters.
The stakeholders insist that the primary result should be respected, arguing that it represents the choice of grassroots party members.
They said the appeal was not intended to oppose or embarrass any party leader but to seek a resolution that would promote reconciliation and unity within the APC.
According to them, restoring Adams’ ticket would also help rebuild confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
“Politics is local,” the stakeholders said, urging the party leadership to consider the views of ward leaders, grassroots mobilisers, community stakeholders, youths, women and other APC members in resolving the dispute.
They called on Tinubu to use his political experience to facilitate an amicable resolution, stressing that they sought both justice and reconciliation.
The stakeholders also urged APC members in Eti-Osa Constituency I to remain committed to the party and work towards unity.
