The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called for greater collaboration with Nigeria’s creative industry in the fight against economic and financial crimes.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, made the call at an entertainment event tagged “Vintage with Gana” held in Abuja on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The Commission disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Tuesday, October 6.
Olukoyede, who was represented at the event by the Head of the EFCC Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, ACE II Aisha Mohammed, said the creative sector could serve as an effective platform for engaging young Nigerians in the campaign against corruption.
He said the Commission was willing to work with Nigerians across different age groups to prevent economic and financial crimes.
“I am actually here because the EFCC is the friend of the people. EFCC is not all about arrest, we have a face and we actually support creatives. That is why whenever there are events like this, the EFCC is actually there to support,” he said.

Olukoyede also stressed that the fight against corruption should not be left to the EFCC alone, urging Nigerians to take collective responsibility for tackling the problem.
“The fight against corruption is not for the EFCC alone but it is for everyone,” he said.
He noted that the consequences of corruption, including poor infrastructure, inadequate healthcare and insecurity, affect the wider population.
“When it results in bad roads, bad hospitals, insecurity, nobody is safe. So, all of us have to come together to salvage the country, we don’t have any country but Nigeria,” he said.
The EFCC chairman urged Nigerians, particularly youths, to channel their talents into productive activities and reject cybercrime and other forms of financial misconduct.
“Nigerians are talented, we are smart, we are lovable, and we are brilliant people. It is just for us to put it to good use. So, say no to yahoo yahoo, say no to cybercrime, say no to looting and stealing, misappropriation,” he said.
Mohammed further reiterated the Commission’s readiness to partner with individuals and groups committed to combating corruption.
“We have to do it together. The EFCC is open to more collaboration that will help rid Nigeria of corruption,” she said.
The event was attended by senior officials of the Commission, including the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, CE Michael Nzekwe; Director of Investigation, Abdulkarim Chukkol; Director of Internal Audit, Idowu Oluwole-Apejoye; EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale; and Head of the Public Interface Unit, Tony Orilade.
