The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, says northerners, particularly Hausa and Fulani voters, have no reason to reject President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Dangyatin, who is also the Jigawa Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, says supporting Tinubu would amount to reciprocating the role he played in helping former President Muhammadu Buhari win the 2015 and 2019 elections.
The Speaker spoke in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State at a pre-rally consultative meeting of APC stakeholders from the Jigawa South-West Senatorial District.
He says the meeting is part of efforts to introduce the party’s candidates for the 2027 elections, from the presidency and governorship to the National and State Assemblies, ahead of campaigns at polling-unit, ward and local government levels.
Dangyatin says the APC has regained its strength in the district, which recorded significant gains by the opposition PDP in the 2023 elections.
In that election, the PDP won the senatorial seat, two of the five House of Representatives seats and two State Assembly seats in the district.

The Speaker attributes the APC’s losses to internal disagreements, insisting that the party has resolved its differences ahead of the 2027 polls.
“We can assure you that everything has been taken care of, and I can tell you that this zone is squarely an APC zone.”
On the economic hardship facing Nigerians, Dangyatin acknowledges that the government’s reforms have brought difficulties to many households.
But he argues that the reforms are necessary for long-term economic recovery, saying the current hardship will ease with time.
He also cites the fall in the price of grains as evidence of improvement, claiming that a bag that sold for nearly N100,000 towards the end of the Buhari administration now sells for about N30,000 or less in some areas.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the APC is intensifying its efforts to consolidate support across Jigawa, particularly in areas where the opposition made gains in 2023.
For voters, however, the coming election is likely to be shaped not only by political alliances, but also by how they assess the impact of the Tinubu administration on food prices, household incomes and the wider economy.
