Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has signed a N63.478 billion supplementary appropriation into law for the state and its 27 local government areas.
The additional funds raise the state’s 2026 budget to about N948.2 billion and the combined budget of the local governments to N305.96 billion.
Governor Namadi signed the supplementary appropriation after the Jigawa State House of Assembly approved the request following its third reading.
Of the additional N63.478 billion, N46.369 billion goes to the state government, while N17.109 billion is allocated to the 27 local government councils.
The governor says the supplementary budget follows additional revenue accruing to the state and is aimed at creating more room for development projects and improved service delivery.
He has directed relevant government authorities to ensure the funds are properly implemented and used for projects that directly benefit the people.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, says the House made about 186 recommendations before approving the supplementary appropriation, with emphasis on transparency, accountability and value for money.
He says the additional budget will complement the original N901.841 billion 2026 budget, which the Assembly passed in December 2025.
That budget, tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II,” allocated 77 per cent to capital projects, with major funding for education and agriculture.
With the supplementary provision, the state government’s 2026 budget rises to about N948.2 billion, while the combined budget of the 27 local governments moves from N288.848 billion to N305.957 billion.
The Assembly says it will strengthen oversight to ensure the additional funds are released and used for the projects for which they are approved.
For residents, the focus will now be on implementation — whether the additional resources translate into better roads, schools, healthcare, agriculture support and other services across Jigawa.
The governor has therefore been tasked with ensuring that the increased spending delivers visible results and improves the lives of people across the state.
