President Bola Tinubu has met with the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), in Lagos to review ongoing military operations and strengthen strategies to address security challenges across the country.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Residence in Lagos, focused on the national defence framework, counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations, as well as inter-agency security coordination.
The Ministry of Defence disclosed this in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Defence, Leah Katung-Babatunde, on Monday, October 5.
“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has received the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, in a high-level strategic meeting at the Presidential Residence in Lagos.
“The strategic engagement centered on reviewing the national defence framework, evaluating the progress of ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations, and aligning inter-agency security strategies to sustain the peace and security of the nation”, the statement reads.

According to the statement, Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded in securing vulnerable communities across the country and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Defence.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for Musa to brief the President on ongoing defence initiatives, operational logistics on the frontline and proposed reforms aimed at improving military effectiveness.
The reforms, according to the ministry, are expected to boost troop morale, modernise military hardware and strengthen military infrastructure across the country.
Musa thanked the President for his continued guidance and support for the nation’s security agencies.
The Defence Minister assured that the ministry remained committed to carrying out its responsibilities with “firm resolve and integrity.”
