Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), on his 60th birthday.
Sanwo-Olu described Banire, a former Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and legal practitioner, as a distinguished public servant whose contributions to academia, the legal profession, governance and politics span more than three decades.
The governor, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, praised Banire for his contributions to jurisprudence, governance and public service.
Sanwo-Olu said “On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate my dear brother and friend, Dr. Muiz Banire, on his 60th birthday.
“Dr. Muiz Banire has led an impactful life. He served Lagos State passionately as Commissioner for the Environment and Transportation, and as Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties. He has also contributed positively to party politics and governance at both the state and national levels for about three decades.
“He is a bold, courageous and unbiased person. He is worth celebrating at 60 for his integrity, purposeful leadership, legal excellence and selfless service to humanity.
“As Dr. Muiz Banire joins the league of sexagenarians, I pray that God will grant him more strength and good health to serve humanity, our dear Lagos State and Nigeria.”
