The Taraba State Police Command has announced that the governor of Taraba state, Agbu Kefas, has paid tribute to three police officers who died in the line of duty, offering financial support to their bereaved families.
The officers who were identified as Corporal Raphael Danjuma, Police Constable Ebenezer Daniel, and Police Constable Samuel Baw, lost their lives while on active service at Tor-Damisa, an incident described by authorities as a tragic loss to both the force and the state.
In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Jalingo, the police command said the governor, through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, presented condolence letters alongside a donation of N1 million to each of the affected families.
The gesture was framed as recognition of the officers’ courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice in protecting lives and property.
Governor Kefas expressed shock over the incident, noting that the deaths represent not only a personal loss to the families but also a significant blow to the Nigeria Police Force and the wider Taraba community.
Responding to the development, Commissioner of Police Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal conveyed appreciation on behalf of the command and the bereaved families, describing the governor’s intervention as timely and compassionate.
He added that the support would provide some relief to grieving families while also boosting morale among serving officers.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security across the state and urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies in order to ensure peace and stability.
