The Nigerian Air Force has commenced efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the aircraft crash that claimed the lives of its personnel in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who visited the crash site on Thursday, said the cause of the incident would be thoroughly investigated, stressing that it was too early to draw conclusions.
Aneke said investigators and aviation experts would examine the wreckage and other available evidence to determine exactly what led to the crash.
“They are highly trained professional officers. Whatever happened here will be properly investigated. We must sit down to get what happened. This is not the time to speculate. We must get to the root of this,” he said.
The Air Force chief said recovering the wreckage would be a key part of the investigation, assuring Nigerians that every effort would be made to establish the facts surrounding the incident and prevent a recurrence.

“I assure Nigerians that we will make sure to get the wreckages of the aircraft and get to the root of it. We will make sure that nothing of this will happen again,” Aneke said.
He described the deaths as a major loss to the Nigerian Air Force and the families of the personnel, adding that the service would support the bereaved families.
“I assure the families that they will not be left alone. Air Force will be responsible to the families and make sure that children and families are taken care of,” he said.
