The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the release of a High Court judge, Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza, who was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area on July 26, 2026.

The judge was released on August 3, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman.

Usman said the judge’s release had been confirmed by his family and the state Ministry of Justice.

The police disclosed that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom but insisted that the command maintained its position against ransom payments.

Following the judge’s release, the command said it had intensified investigations, in collaboration with other security agencies, to track down those responsible for the abduction.

“The Command urges members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in this regard. All information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” the statement said.

The police also appreciated members of the public and partner security agencies for their support and cooperation during the period of the judge’s abduction.
