The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has won the 2026 Global Public Relations Association of the Year Award, becoming the first institute globally to receive the international recognition in two consecutive years.

The award was announced on Friday in Abuja by the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Professor Justin Green, during the launch of the Youth Digital Campaign ahead of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF).

In a statement issued by the NIPR Director of Public Relations, Stanley Ogadigo, the institute said the award attracted entries from public relations associations across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and India.

Green described the achievement as a significant milestone for Nigeria, saying it reflected the growing expertise, professionalism and global standing of the country’s public relations industry.

According to the Global Alliance, the award followed a rigorous assessment by an international panel of judges, with the 2026 edition attracting 92 entries from different countries.

Reacting to the recognition, NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, said the award reinforced Nigeria’s capacity to demonstrate global leadership across various sectors.

He stressed the need to harness the country’s potential to strengthen its international reputation, adding that the institute remained committed to promoting Nigeria’s success stories, advancing innovation and implementing initiatives to improve professional standards and national development.

Neliaku also expressed confidence that Nigeria’s hosting of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, scheduled for November 15 to 22, would further raise the country’s global profile.

He described the forum as a strategic national reputation project that would reshape international perceptions of Nigeria and establish new standards in the global public relations industry.
