Troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected high-profile terrorist in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Madumaki Modugai, was arrested at about 10:45 p.m. on October 5, 2026, in Magumeri town following an intelligence-led operation.
According to security sources, Modugai had allegedly sneaked into the town, causing panic among residents who became apprehensive over his presence.
His arrest subsequently helped to calm tensions and restore confidence among residents.
Preliminary interrogation indicated that the suspect had allegedly been operating around the fringes of the Lake Chad region and Niger Republic.
Residents and local vigilantes also reportedly told security personnel that he had been involved in terrorist-related activities for about four years.
The suspect remains in military custody for further interrogation as security agencies investigate his activities, movements and possible links to terrorist networks operating around the Lake Chad Basin.
