Nigerian model and creative Rachel Ojuromi has made her debut on the Chanel runway in Paris, marking a major milestone in her modelling career.

In a post shared via Instagram on Tuesday, she dedicated the achievement to her mother, friends and collaborators who supported her journey, saying the moment was not only about her but about everyone who helped make it possible.

TVC News Online reports that Ojuromi is known for using Lagos streets as a runway. She recently recreated the Chanel 2026 show on the streets of Lagos

“In my long career, I pray there will be many days that will be for me, but today is not one of them; today is for US,” she wrote.

Ojuromi dedicated the moment to her mother, Maria Osayi Ojuromi, who she said sold clothes throughout her life despite the business sometimes being unsustainable or unprofitable.

“It is for my mom @mariaosayiojuromi who sold clothes all her life even when it wasn’t sustainable or profitable,” she wrote.

She also acknowledged Debby, who designed and made garments from second-hand pieces despite financial difficulties, and Odey, who she said made time to film her videos every week while still working.

“It is for Debby who designed and made so many garments from pieces bought second-hand even when she couldn’t afford it.

“It is for those who, despite having to still work every day, made time out to shoot these videos every week,” Ojuromi wrote.
The model also thanked her friends for supporting her throughout her journey.
“It is for all my friends who chose to support me every day even when I seemed insane,” she added.

Addressing young creatives and dreamers, Ojuromi urged them to remain committed to their aspirations despite doubts from others.

“And most importantly, it is for you, the amazing artist and dreamer watching this with a calling you know you have to see through; all I am today is a vehicle, and I have been told to tell you one thing: please dream and dream and dream yourself into a life you know is possible even when nobody understands it.”

She added: “Your thoughts and ideas and curiosities are beyond valid and it can take you further than even you can believe.”

Ojuromi also thanked Chanel, creative director Matthieu Blazy and members of the Chanel team for the opportunity.
