A video showing a heated confrontation between military officers and Hon. Sanya Omirin, the lawmaker representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency, has surfaced online.
The video, which went viral on Tuesday afternoon, showed Omirin in the company of some police officers and aides when the incident occurred.
The cause of the confrontation could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report. However, in the video, the lawmaker was heard cautioning one of the soldiers.

“What the hell are you doing? Are you a soldier? You better don’t lose your job,” Omirin said.
The soldier responded angrily, rejecting what he described as a threat to his job.
“Oga, don’t threaten me. Are you the one who put me in the job? Don’t threaten me with my job! You cannot threaten me with my job! You be Chief of Army Staff?” the officer fired back.
He went further to direct the lawmaker to a military facility nearby.
“I told you, go to the barracks! Look at the barracks here! This is our area of responsibility! (0:41) I am trying to explain to you; you are saying I am doing illegal mining. Do you see any mining sites here?” the soldier asked.
As of press time, the Nigerian Army had not issued any official statement on the incident.
Efforts to get Omirin’s reaction also proved abortive.
