• As 93 boxers receive cash rewards

Organisers of Game for Asiwaju 2027 have announced that the inaugural event will be held on June 3, 2026, at the Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area.
In a briefing about the upcoming Game for Asiwaju 2027, it was informed that the event will proceed from Ward to Ward, featuring Draft and Ludo. The Draft event is planned for male participants, while Ludo is designated for females.
Furthermore, a special event, ‘Train the Trainer’, will take place on June 24, where coaches across various sports will be trained on the latest trends in their disciplines.
Meanwhile, a total of 93 boxers who excelled in the inaugural ‘Fight for Asiwaju 2027’ Boxing Championship received their cash rewards. They had a share of the ₦2 million prize pool.
The ‘Fight for Asiwaju 2027’ boxing event, initiated by the Executive Chairman of the Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, Honourable Akinola Idowu Dodo, and organised by the Orile-Agege Sports Committee in April, attracted both top and emerging grassroots male and female boxing talents from the LCDA.
Dr. Sunday Ladipo, the Secretary of Orile-Agege LCDA, told the media, “The ‘Fight for Asiwaju 2027’ Boxing Championship was laudable, as it was a catch-them-young event, took the youths off the streets, and engaged them in their chosen sport.
“The idea was both novel and unique, stemming from Honourable Akinola Idowu Dodo, who is a boxer himself and a supporter of youth empowerment through sports.
“He went the extra mile by providing a boxing ring, comparable to a professional one, costing about ₦7 million. This is the first of its kind at the local government level in Lagos State, enabling boxers in Orile-Agege LCDA to train and host events.
‘Our focus now is on the ‘Game for Asiwaju 2027’. The Orile-Agege LCDA is elevating sports and encouraging widespread participation.
“Through these initiatives, the LCDA is also raising awareness among residents to be involved in the democratic process of electing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for a second term.”
