Bodex Media has paid tribute to billionaire businessman and Chairman of Globacom, Mike Adenuga, as he marks his 73rd birthday.
In a tribute titled, “Celebrating an Icon, Dr. Mike Adenuga at 73,” the organisation described the telecoms magnate as a symbol of enterprise, patriotism and quiet influence, whose impact spans business, culture and nation-building.
According to the group, Adenuga’s journey reflects the possibilities inherent in Nigeria’s potential, noting that his career has come to embody resilience, vision and conviction.
Widely known as “The Bull,” Adenuga was portrayed as a figure, whose strength and determination have left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s economic landscape.
“Like the bull, when he moves, the ground shifts. And in many ways, when Mike Adenuga moved, Nigeria moved with him,” the tribute stated.
The organisation highlighted his early ventures in critical sectors such as oil and gas through Conoil, as well as investments in banking, payments and real estate, describing them as deliberate contributions to national development.
It identified the launch of Globacom in 2003 as a turning point in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, noting that the introduction of per-second billing expanded access and transformed communication for millions of Nigerians.
Beyond business, Bodex Media emphasised his cultural impact, stating that his support for Nigerian music, sports and film helped promote local talent and strengthen the creative industry.
“Long before ‘buy Nigerian’ became a slogan, Adenuga was living it,” the statement said.
The organisation also highlighted his philanthropic efforts through the Mike Adenuga Foundation, noting that scholarships, youth empowerment initiatives and infrastructure support have positively impacted many lives across the country.
