The Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has said only lazy Nigerians are complaining of hunger, insisting that food is available in the markets for those willing to work.
Addressing supporters during a political rally in Akwa Ibom on Friday, the former Governor of Zamfara State said the availability of foodstuffs in the market shows that the country is not facing real hunger.
“Akwa Ibom people, where I come from, we have food in the market,” he said.
“I don’t know, in Akwa Ibom, is there anybody who took his money to the market and found out that there is no rice? Is there anybody who, with money in his pocket, went to the market to buy foodstuffs and said there is no foodstuff in the market?”
According to him, hunger only exists where food cannot be found in the market, regardless of the money in a person’s pocket.
“If there is no food in the market, that is what we call hunger. But anyone who is not a lazy person will definitely have food on his table,” he added.
He maintained that Nigerians who work hard have no reason to go hungry, as food items remain on sale across markets in the country.
