‘You’re A Disgrace’ — Igboho Tackles Makinde Over Presidential Stamina Challenge

Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has criticised Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate Seyi Makinde over his remarks challenging presidential hopefuls to demonstrate their physical stamina ahead of the 2027 election.

Igboho, while addressing a gathering of the Iru Ekun Security Network, accused Makinde of mocking President Bola Tinubu and vowed to respond to anyone who publicly insults the President.

Makinde had challenged Nigerians to assess the energy and stamina of presidential candidates during a South-West town hall meeting of his campaign organisation in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday.

The governor, who said he would not make age an issue in the presidential contest, jumped off the stage to demonstrate his point and challenged other candidates to do the same.

“When they bring their presidential candidate, let the candidate come here and also jump down. If they can do that, vote for them,” Makinde said.

Although the governor addressed presidential candidates generally without directly mentioning Tinubu in the challenge, Igboho interpreted his remarks as a veiled jab at the President.

Reacting to the incident, Igboho said, “You’re now jumping around like a frog, like a madman, saying, ‘Can the President jump like that?’ Anyone who wants to live long should not mock an elderly person. You are nothing but a disgrace. From now on, anyone who insults Tinubu will get the same treatment from me.”

The activist also expressed gratitude to Tinubu for allowing him return to Nigeria after spending years in exile.

HERALDSUN reports that Igboho fled Nigeria in 2021 after security operatives raided his Ibadan residence amid allegations of stockpiling arms and ammunition.

He subsequently remained outside the country before returning following interventions by traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
