‘Fake News’: Osun Govt Faults APC Advert On Bad Road, Says It’s Oyetola’s Project

The Osun State government has said a dilapidated road published as a front-page advert by the All Progressives Congress in a national newspaper on Tuesday was constructed during the administration of former governor Gboyega Oyetola.

In a statement, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr. Bashiru Bello, said the road is located at Mukoro in Ile-Ife, not Modakeke as claimed by the opposition.

Bello added that the road initiated by the Adeleke administration has not reached the stage of lane marking shown in the advert, describing the publication as “fake news.”

“The bad road published on the front page of Tribune newspaper today was constructed by the Oyetola administration, not the Adeleke government. The road is located at Mukoro, Ile-Ife, not Modakeke,” he stated.

“We have attached the GPS coordinates of the said road for fact-check and verification through Google search. The road initiated by the Adeleke administration has not reached the level of lane marking shown in the published road. The publication is therefore simply fake news,” Bello said.

The Permanent Secretary said the current administration has been carrying out remediation and corrective work on several projects inherited from the Oyetola administration.

He added that the APC’s attempt to “push its defects on the Adeleke government is deceitful” and urged members of the public to fact-check the claim.
