Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to comments by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo mocking his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over his frequent dancing at public events.

Davido reacted by sharing what appeared to be Okpebholo’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result on his Instagram story, a move that sparked reactions from social media users.

The singer’s response came hours after a video surfaced online showing Okpebholo criticising Governor Adeleke’s leadership style during a political gathering, while urging residents of Osun State not to support him in the forthcoming governorship election.

In the video, Okpebholo mocked Adeleke’s well-known dancing displays at official functions, questioning whether residents were satisfied with the governor’s approach to governance.

“Before somebody signs paper he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast he will dance,” Okpebholo said.

The Edo governor further claimed that Adeleke was not in tune with the realities of governance.

“Before he even enters the plane he will dance. Before he gets there, we have closed, so he won’t know what we are saying. He doesn’t even know the reality of today,” he added.

Okpebholo also advised voters not to be influenced by financial inducements during the election.

“If they bring money, chop that money from them but don’t vote for them,” he said.

Following the circulation of the video, Davido posted a document believed to be Okpebholo’s WASSCE result on his verified Instagram story without any accompanying message.

The document shared by the singer displayed grades including D7 in Commerce, Christian Religious Knowledge, Economics and English Language; E8 in Government; and C5 in Mathematics.

Davido did not provide further explanation for the post, while Governor Okpebholo has yet to respond publicly to the singer’s action.
