Peter Obi: Atiku not defecting to NDC – Aide, Shaibu

The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, on Monday described reports of his principal defecting to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, as fake news.

Shaibu said claims that Atiku has held secret talks on defection with ADC officials have been widely reported and speculated.

In a statement he signed, titled “This is FAKE NEWS,” Shaibu said: “No defection. No secret talks. No shadowy meetings. No political theatrics.

“Just another clumsy, recycled falsehood, manufactured to distract Nigerians from the grinding realities of hardship, insecurity, and a floundering economy.

“But Nigerians are wiser now. You cannot bury the truth beneath a mountain of propaganda.”

He insisted that the former vice president remains committed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its mission of rescuing Nigeria.

“@atiku remains fully committed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its mission to rescue Nigeria from the grip of this failing administration.

“There will be no detours, no distractions, and no retreat, only a resolute march toward rebuilding a nation that works for all,” he added.

This comes as former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, defected to the NDC from the ADC despite having only recently joined the party.
