Info minister hails Citizen Media for indigenous language broadcasting

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has commended Citizen Media Group for its role in advancing indigenous language broadcasting in Nigeria.

He described the outlet as “a commendable champion” and “most worthy of emulation” in the industry.

The Minister made the remarks on Thursday while receiving a delegation from Citizen Media, which operates Citizen TV and Citizen FM, at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in Abuja.

The delegation was led by the Managing Director of Citizen TV, Mrs. Fatimah Abbas Hassan.

Idris said the ministry would continue to support the group’s work in promoting “solution-driven” journalism while also fostering national unity and cohesion.

Citizen Media Group has gained recognition for its focus on broadcasting in local languages, an approach the minister said aligns with the government’s broader agenda of inclusive communication and cultural preservation.
