The Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Public communication, Phrank Shaibu, has disclosed that he gave President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Daniel Bwala, money to sustain his lifestyle outside what the former vice president gave him.
Shaibu said Bwala needed “extra cash” to fund his luxurious lifestyle outside what Atiku paid him while he was working with the former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate.
Bwala served as a spokesperson for Atiku’s presidential campaign during the 2023 general election, spanning from roughly 2022 to early 2023.
He was key in the PDP campaigns, focusing on challenging the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.
After the election, Bwala was appointed by President Tinubu as one of his media aides.
Speaking in an interview with Rufai Oseni, Shaibu said: “He has his letter of appointment, in fact when he brought it for us, we had to redact where his numeration was stated clearly but I have the original copy so if he makes a noise about it, we will let the public know how much he was earning.
“Outside what Atiku was paying Daniel Bwala for instance, some of us gave him money and he knows this, he knows that to sustain his lifestyle he needed extra cash; if that is what he wants to put out there we know him more than he knows himself.
“He can’t make such reckless comments that anybody shortchanged him or he wasn’t treated well. We gave him the best of time.
“Daniel is alive and the facts speak for itself. I speak to facts that Daniel was not just treated well; he was given the best of time outside Atiku and the management of our media office.
“He can’t make such claims where I’m, in fact that is the reasons why he blocked me on Twitter and most of his social media handles because he knows that if he speaks too much I would be able to tell him to shot up because I gave you XYZ to sustain your lifestyle.
“Some of these people have a lifestyle that they can’t fund, you abandon your family at home only to stay in a luxurious hotel like Transcorp all in the name of somebody trying to kill you, why will anybody want to kill you?”
