The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, has apologised to supporters in Bauchi State over his decision not to contest the 2027 governorship election, while reaffirming his commitment to national service and endorsing the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a video message released to the people of Bauchi State on Sunday night, Muhammad Ali Pate expressed regret over any inconvenience his decision not to contest may have caused, particularly to supporters and residents who had anticipated his entry into the governorship race.
He thanked his supporters across the state and beyond for their unwavering loyalty, assuring them of his continued commitment to their aspirations in whatever capacity he serves.
The minister reaffirmed his dedication to driving development at both national and state levels, with a strong focus on improving healthcare delivery, especially in maternal and child health, as well as critical surgical services.
“Power belongs to God; He gives it to whom He wills and takes it from whom He wills,” he stated, while pledging to support the emergence of a credible and capable leader who will steer Bauchi State towards greater progress.
He also cautioned youths against engaging in political thuggery, violence, and other social vices, warning that such actions could jeopardise their future leadership potential.
Pate further called on citizens to rally behind the All Progressives Congress in securing victory across all elective positions in the state during the 2027 general elections.
He equally appealed to stakeholders and voters to support the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
He pledged to promote the emergence of credible candidates for elective offices, stressing the need for leadership that will deliver tangible democratic dividends to the people.
The minister warned party delegates against supporting aspirants who rely on financial inducements, noting that such practices undermine democratic values and hinder genuine development.
“We will not allow the emergence of unproductive aspirants whose actions could slow the pace of progress in Bauchi State,” he said, adding that such a development would not serve the overall interest of the state.
