Israeli forces assaulted a disabled child and his brother during a raid in occupied East Jerusalem, local sources said Thursday, Anadolu reports
A video clip circulated on social media showed Israeli soldiers chasing a child with disabilities through the streets of the Shu’fat refugee camp, northeast of East Jerusalem. The child appeared frightened and disoriented before being cornered and physically assaulted.
“Israeli soldiers continued to chase the child despite his clear medical condition,” the sources told Anadolu.
The sources said the child, who was identified as Mahdi Abu Talib, was briefly detained, while his brother was beaten.
The Israeli army and occupiers have escalated attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
About 750,000 Israeli occupiers live in the West Bank, including around 250,000 in East Jerusalem, in settlements considered illegal under international law, according to Palestinian estimates.
More than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed and about 12,000 others in attacks by the Israeli army and occupiers in the West Bank since October 2023, according to Palestinian figures.
