Super Falcons: 21 players in camp for 2028 Olympic qualifier vs Comoros

The Super Falcons’ camp has swelled to 21 players as Nigeria intensifies preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign against Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium.

The latest arrivals include several established foreign-based stars, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Rasheedat Ajibade, PSG midfielder Jennifer Echegini, Chicago Stars defender Michelle Alozie, Inter Milan midfielder Toni Payne and Al-Hilal midfielder Christy Ucheibe among those now in camp.

The squad also features players from clubs across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the United States, underlining the depth of experience available to the technical crew ahead of the crucial qualifying assignment.

AS Roma defender Shukurat Oladipo, SCU Torreense forward Shakirat Moshood, Beşiktaş defender Glory Ogbonna, MK Dons midfielder Omenazu Favour, Dynamo Brest forward Blessing Nkor and Fenerbahçe defender Suliat Abideen are among the other foreign-based players in camp.

The domestic contingent is led by players from Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Queens, including goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Tumininu Adeshina, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet and Sandra John, as well as midfielders Joy Igbokwe and Fatimoh Solaty.

The Super Falcons are seeking to return to the women’s football tournament at the Olympic Games after missing the Paris 2024 Olympics. Their preparations for the 2028 campaign, therefore, carry added significance as Nigeria targets a return to the global stage.

Further arrivals are expected as the camp continues, with the coaching crew set to assess the players before finalising the squad for the qualifying assignment.
