Super Eagles backroom faces changes ahead of November AFCON qualifiers

The Super Eagles are set for changes to their backroom structure ahead of the team’s November assignments against Tanzania in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Nigeria are scheduled to host Tanzania in Uyo on November 11, before travelling to the East African country for the reverse fixture four days later.

We gathered  that a reorganisation of the Super Eagles’ backroom team is being considered, with several positions expected to be affected.

Among the roles under consideration are the team coordinator, media manager and curator, although the extent of the proposed changes is yet to be officially communicated.

The planned adjustments have reportedly generated considerable interest, with lobbying and counter-lobbying said to be ongoing among stakeholders seeking to influence appointments to some of the positions.

The changes come as the Super Eagles continue their preparations for the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, with the Tanzania double-header expected to be important to Nigeria’s qualification ambitions.

The technical crew will also be keen to maintain stability around the national team as preparations intensify, particularly with the proximity of the November fixtures.

An official announcement on the proposed backroom changes is expected once the relevant authorities conclude their consultations and decisions on the affected positions.

For now, the focus within the Super Eagles camp remains on ensuring that the team has the necessary technical, administrative and logistical support ahead of the crucial encounters with Tanzania.
