“N50m For Assembly, N200m And Car For Reps” – Buba Galadima Alleges APC Is Paying Politicians To Step Down

  • NDC chieftain Buba Galadima has alleged that APC is offering politicians ₦50 million to surrender State House of Assembly tickets and ₦200 million plus a car to House of Representatives candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
  • He further claimed that money was being distributed at an Abuja hotel and alleged that the DSS was providing security, although he did not provide evidence during the interview and APC has not publicly responded to the claim.

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is offering millions of naira and vehicles to politicians who agree to step down and allow the party’s candidates to contest unopposed in the 2027 elections.

Galadima made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he claimed that the ruling party was using financial incentives to weaken opposition competition ahead of the general elections.

“Every Member of the House of Assembly Who Agrees to Forfeit His Ticket for the APC Candidate is Currently Being Given N50 Million, and the House of Reps Will Be Given N200 Million With a Car,” he said.

Galadima further alleged that a woman from Zamfara State was coordinating the distribution of the money at a hotel in Abuja.

“There’s a lady from Zamfara State who is sharing the money in a hotel here in Abuja,” he said.

He also claimed that the woman had recently met with APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and showed him candidates who had allegedly withdrawn from the race after collecting the money.

Galadima went further, alleging that President Bola Tinubu and APC governors were afraid of facing serious opposition and wanted their candidates to win without strong challenges.

He also claimed that the Department of State Services (DSS) was protecting the alleged money-sharing location at the hotel.

However, Galadima did not present evidence during the interview to independently establish the alleged payments, identify the politicians he said had collected the money or verify the claim about DSS involvement. Recent reports on the interview also noted that APC and Yilwatda had not publicly responded to the allegations as of publication.

The allegations come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with defections, withdrawals and political realignments becoming increasingly prominent ahead of the polls.
