Let Us Be, Go After Those Eating Nigeria’s Money, Angry Akure Youths Tell EFCC

Angry youths in Akure, the Ondo State capital, took to the streets on Thurday, to protest the recent raid by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The protesters, who came out in large numbers, expressed their displeasure over the manner in which the anti-graft agency carried out its operations in the city.

They marched through parts of Akure, carrying placards with different inscriptions and demanding that the EFCC stop what they described as harassment of residents.

The youths also alleged that some residents were assaulted and beaten during the operation, describing the alleged treatment as unacceptable.

The protest was largely centred on the youths’ demand for their rights and what they described as the need for the EFCC to carry out its duties without subjecting innocent residents to harassment.

The protesters maintained that the fight was not about politics but about their concerns over the conduct of the EFCC operatives.

In a video seen by HERALDSUN, one of the protesters was heard saying : “I am a city boy guy. I be Tinubu guy. This is not politics. We are only fighting for our rights.”

The youths called on the anti-graft agency to focus its attention on individuals involved in corruption and the alleged mismanagement of public funds.

The demonstration attracted attention across the city as the protesters moved with their placards, voicing their grievances over the EFCC operation.
