An Anambra State High Court has denied bail to Harrison Anazodo, also known as Harrison Charles, an Onitsha-based spiritualist and self-styled pastor reportedly married to 75 women.
Justice Jude Obiora denied the bail application on Monday during the continuation of trial on a seven-count charge bordering on alleged violations of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, 2025.

His counsel, W. Abonye, had applied for bail on health grounds, but the application was opposed by the prosecution led by Chief State Counsel, Chineze Ononye-Ekwerekwu, who filed a 20-paragraph counter-affidavit and two exhibits.
Justice Obiora ruled that the defendant failed to establish that he was suffering from a life-threatening medical condition. The prosecution also told the court it was ready to proceed with trial and had witnesses lined up.
The case was adjourned to October 16, 2026.
Anazodo, founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, was arrested over three months ago following viral allegations that he manipulated female church members into leaving their husbands, with claims he also allegedly swapped wives among congregants.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Ejimofor Opara, confirmed his arrest, saying he was apprehended by operatives of Agunechemba and handed over to the police.
He said about eleven babies were found in his home during his arrest. The pastor reportedly claimed to be father of the eleven babies from eleven of his wives, and that he does not know the number of wives or children he has.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, urged members of the public with additional information on his activities to report to the state government via 08034182108, as joint investigation by the police and state government continues.
The development comes amid a crackdown by the Anambra State Government on suspected fake pastors, which has led to the arraignment of eight clerics, with several alleged victims coming forward.
