The aircraft, identified as an ATR-42 with tail number NGR 931, was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when it disappeared from radar on Monday morning, October 5, 2026.
A statement from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said preliminary information indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were on board.
The minister added that the wreckage had been located near the Naval Base in Igbokoda and that search and rescue operations were ongoing. Authorities had not officially confirmed the number of casualties as of the latest reports.
The Ondo State Police Command also confirmed the aircraft cr@sh and urged residents to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information while authorities continue their assessment of the incident.
The development has triggered concern online as Nigerians await further information on the fate of those on board.
