The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger states due to ongoing renovation works at the orientation camps.

The scheme announced the development in a statement issued by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu.

According to the statement, the orientation exercise, originally scheduled to begin earlier, will now commence on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The NYSC also announced that the cut-off and swearing-in ceremony will take place on Friday, August 14, while the orientation course will end with the closing ceremony on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

“The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) wishes to announce the extension of the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States,” the statement read.

The scheme explained that the adjustment became necessary because of “the ongoing renovation works in both Orientation Camps by their respective State Governments.”

The NYSC advised all prospective corps members posted to the two states to take note of the revised schedule and avoid travelling at night to the orientation camps.

“All Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) are advised to avoid embarking on night travels to their Orientation Camps,” the statement added.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also wished all prospective corps members a safe journey to their respective orientation camps.
