Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve not to negotiate with or yield to bandits, insisting that the government remains committed to ending insecurity across the State.

Speaking on Thursday during a condolence visit to Bungudu Local Government Area following last week’s bandit attack, the governor said: “The state government is dedicating resources and efforts to end the threat of banditry. We will continue to provide all necessary assistance to those injured and will do everything possible to secure the safe return of all kidnapped victims.”

Lawal, who visited the palace of the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, sympathised with bereaved families, the emirate and residents affected by the attack.

He urged the people to remain patient, describing the incident as “a test from Almighty Allah” and calling for perseverance and prayers.

Responding, the Emir of Bungudu commended the governor’s commitment to tackling insecurity, saying: “As a member of the state’s security council, I am aware of the governor’s efforts. I am confident that we will overcome the challenge of banditry.”

The traditional ruler also thanked Governor Lawal for the condolence visit, describing it as a gesture that meant a great deal to the people of Bungudu.

During the visit, the governor also met with the family of the late Alhaji Bello Umar Bungudu and other families affected by the attack to offer his condolences.
