The Nigerian naira continued to trade within a relatively stable range against the United States dollar on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with the currency exchanging at about ₦1,425 per dollar in the parallel market.
Checks by HERALDSUN showed that the dollar was bought at approximately ₦1,410 and sold at ₦1,425 at the black market on Saturday.
At the official foreign exchange market, the naira traded at around ₦1,366 to the dollar, according to the latest available figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), reflecting a narrower gap between the official and parallel market rates.
The exchange rate continues to be closely monitored by businesses, importers and investors due to its impact on the prices of goods and services across the country.
Nigeria has witnessed fluctuations in the value of the naira in recent years following foreign exchange reforms and changing market conditions, with stakeholders urging sustained policies to improve liquidity and strengthen the local currency.
