The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has raised concerns over the challenges faced by Nigerian workers, noting that workers are constantly navigating inflationary pressures on food and essential services, high cost of transportation and energy issues and the skyrocketing cost of survival.
The National Chairman of the NNPP, Bala Yunusa Mohammed, extended the party’s solidarity and respect to the men and women of the Nigerian workforce.
In a statement signed by Ladipo Johnson, the National Publicity Secretary, the party stated that it does not just celebrate labour but celebrates the incredible resilience of the Nigerian worker.
“Despite the daunting economic headwinds, the rising cost of living, and the daily struggle to make ends meet, your dedication to keeping the wheels of this country turning is nothing short of heroic,” the party said.
The NNPP commended the ability of the worker to remain productive and hopeful in the face of challenges, saying it is a testament to the indomitable Nigerian spirit.
However, the NNPP said it believes that resilience should not be a substitute for prosperity, adding that the worker deserves a country that works as hard for its worker as the worker does for it.
“As we move further into this critical electoral cycle, the NNPP urges every worker, from the civil servant in the city to the laborer in the field, to recognize their collective power,” the statement added.
It continues, “To transform the standard of living in Nigeria, workers must move beyond mere survival and embrace political organization. We must ensure that the next crop of representatives and leaders are individuals who implement policies that drastically reduce the cost of living.
“Invest in social safety nets and infrastructure that ease the burden on the common man.”
The NNPP said it is committed to being the voice of the voiceless, adding, “We stand for a New Nigeria where the dignity of labour is rewarded with a quality of life that reflects our nation’s vast potential. The strength of a nation lies in the hands of its workers.
“In the next few months, let your hands also hold the power of the ballot to elect a government sensitive to your plight and dedicated to raising the standard of living for every Nigerian family.”
