Wike Said He’ll Ensure All PDP Governors Who Defected To APC Have Their States Returned To PDP-Cole

In a recent interview shared by Arise News, 2023 APC Governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, weighed in on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.…....

Cole emphasized the importance of a vibrant opposition, noting that democratic growth depends on healthy competition among political parties. According to him, the ongoing attempts by opposition groups to unite and present a common front could strengthen the electoral process rather than weaken the ruling party. He maintained that political rivalry, when conducted within democratic norms, enhances accountability and legitimacy.

Addressing concerns about dominance by the ruling party, Cole acknowledged that political actors often seek to expand their influence by attracting members from rival parties. However, he stressed that such moves are part of normal political dynamics and do not necessarily signal the collapse of opposition politics.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken a firm stance against recent defections from the Peoples Democratic Party. He stated that “FCT Minister Wike said that he will ensure that all PDP governors who defected to APC have their states returned to PDP.”
