Trump Event Shooting Highlights: Alleged White House Correspondents Dinner shooter Cole Allen sent an anti-President Trump manifesto to his family members about 10 minutes before opening fire at Saturday night’s dinner — calling himself the “Friendly Federal Assassin” and revealing he was trying to kill Trump administration officials, The New York Post reported.
After the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner where President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were present, acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche said the suspect will be charged on Monday morning. He said the suspect seemed to not cooperating with probe and added that he does not know if there is an Iranian connection to the incident. The US President and First Lady were rushed out of the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington by Secret Service agents on Saturday night after a man opened fire on security personnel nearby.

Suspect detained: A law enforcement official identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, a California resident about 31 years old. Little was immediately known about Allen’s background, but social media postings suggested he was a teacher in Torrance, near Los Angeles. Washington interim Police Chief Jeffery Carroll said the suspect was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives. He was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated but it was too soon to say what his motivation was, Carroll said. Based on preliminary information, he was believed to have been a guest at the hotel, Carroll added.
