The Ilorin Emirate Political Advisory Council (IEPAC) has endorsed Senator Saliu Mustapha as its preferred governorship candidate for the 2027 elections in Kwara state.
The endorsement was announced at a press conference addressed by Yakub Yahaya Oloriegbe, national coordinator of the council, alongside Abubakar Edun, its secretary.
IEPAC said its decision followed what it described as a careful assessment of aspirants for key political offices.
The council, comprising elders and stakeholders in Kwara central senatorial district, said it resolved to support candidates that would secure the district’s place in the state’s political structure.
“We unanimously endorse the aspiration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office,” the statement read.
IEPAC described Mustapha as widely acceptable and experienced, adding that the senator has the capacity to win the election and govern the state effectively.
The council said its endorsement does not exclude other aspirants from the race. It urged political actors and parties to align with its position in the interest of unity and stability.
IEPAC said it would continue to monitor political developments ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that it may support other aspirants capable of sustaining the achievements of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
