On April 26, police in Effurun arrested him after getting a tip that he was trying to send a parcel with a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition. In the video, Ogidi is seen sitting on the ground with his hands tied behind his back, begging for his life.
An Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nuhu Usman, shot him at close range, reloaded his gun, and fired again. The Delta State Police Command called it an extrajudicial killing and arrested Usman. The Inspector General of Police has ordered his dismissal and prosecution, along with three other officers involved.
Many Nigerians are angry. The Nigerian Bar Association, Amnesty International, and Senator Ede Dafinone have demanded justice. Ogidi’s mother said this is the second son police have killed; the first died in 2022.But not everyone agrees.
Some young people say Ogidi was no innocent man. One youth spoke out in a video that is now going viral: “I don’t think that OG Millions is innocent. Someone was caught with a gun, and you people are asking for justice. These boys are very evil; they only appear calm when they are caught.”
