A former governorship aspirant in Jigawa State, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), bringing an end to his years of political activity within the ruling party.
Nakudu confirmed his exit in a formal letter submitted to APC leaders in Sundimina Ward, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.
The letter was dated Friday, April 3, 2026, and stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.
In the letter, the former lawmaker said his decision came after deep reflection. He appreciated the party for giving him a platform to grow politically.
He also thanked party stakeholders and loyal supporters who stood by him during his time in the APC.
Nakudu was one of the aspirants who contested for the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2023 general election in Jigawa State. Though he did not secure the ticket, he remained active within party structures until his recent decision to step away.
He noted that his resignation covers all levels of participation in the party. This includes his withdrawal from meetings, consultations, and any form of political engagement under the APC.
The former senator has had a long political career spanning different parties. He was first elected into the House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he served two terms from 2007 to 2015.
He later defected to the APC, under which he was elected as a senator representing Jigawa South-West between 2015 and 2019.
While Nakudu did not clearly state his next political destination in the letter, credible findings indicate that he is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Sources close to him say arrangements are already in place, and a formal declaration may happen in the coming days.
